Chef John McFadden began his hospitality journey at just 12 years old as a kitchen hand, quickly advancing through the ranks. By 15, he started his apprenticeship at Lantern Palace, Wamberal, and completed his degree at La Mer Fine Dining by 19. His career includes notable positions at esteemed restaurants like the two-hatted Grand Fine Dining Room at The Windsor Hotel, Hayman Island, and Xu Bistro at the Hyatt Regency, where he won Best Hotel Dining Restaurant in Australia. Recognized as one of Australia's youngest chefs, he was invited to cook for 80 New York food critics at The James Beard Foundation.
With over 37 years of industry experience, McFadden is renowned for his attention to detail, mentorship, and communication skills. As the National Chairman of Judges for Chef of the Year at Food Service Australia, he has also contributed to the judging process for Bocuse d'Or, selecting the Australian Culinary team. Recently, he joined the Board of Women in Hospitality as a culinary mentor for their Mentor Program.
Currently, John McFadden serves as the Managing Director for Aus/NZ at Squizify, a leader in digital food safety solutions, bringing his extensive culinary expertise to the forefront of food safety innovation.
