Lesson details

German wheat beer, or witbier, is a little bit different to the rest of the beer styles enjoyed in the country. Witbier is made with a large proportion of wheat relative to the amount of malted barley – at least 50%.

In Germany, wheat beer is often enjoyed at breakfast time, which is why alcohol-free wheat beers are becoming more widely available.

Learn about German wheat beers in this lesson with Riegele’s head brewer Sebastian Priller. Sebastian holds the titles of Craft Brewer of the Year for 2017 and the World Champion of Beer Sommeliers for 2011. His family has been brewing beer since 1386!
